[New Resource] — Building a Global Career with a Master's in TESOL

We often hear about the United States’ shifting demographics and our increasingly globalized society, but few people mention the opportunities this opens up for those who are interested in teaching and, in particular, teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Today, we’re announcing a resource that explores the global career potential of teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and how to get started in this field with a Master's in TESOL. This growing field could be your chance to build a life doing meaningful work with ample opportunities for travel and adventure.

What Is TESOL?

Did you know that roughly 75% of English speakers in the world today did not speak English as a first language? All 75% of those English speakers had to be taught English in school, from a relative or tutor, through books or movies, or by cultural association.

TESOL refers to the field and practice of language instruction for bilingual and multilingual English learners and speakers. If you are someone who loves to travel, enjoys adventure, loves to help and serve the marginalized, or simply loves the English language, teaching English to English learners is a meaningful way to spend your working life. It’s something you can do anywhere in the world, and the demand for TESOL instructors is growing as our world becomes more diverse and globalized.
